Today, we had the pleasure and honor to welcome our international ARIS partners to the “Home of ARIS”. 

During our partner enablement days 2019, 65 partners from 16 countries have the opportunity to participate in 15 topic-specific sessions to learn about new features and have vivid discussions with our ARIS experts.

Our CPO Dr. Stefan Sigg opened our exciting 3 days event with his key note speech "Some trends and thoughts related to our product portfolio".

He pointed out several trends and thoughts, such as the following:

• Software is eating the world
• Apps vs. platform
• Brute force of big data
• Predicting the future
• No UI
• Business vs IT

For example, "Software is eating the world" expresses that in the future, virtually every company will be a software company because the production of data is on the rise. More and more data will be produced, even by inanimate objects, such as chairs. Isn't it amazing that we can indeed expect chairs to produce data in the future? The question arising from this trend is whether the chair industry itself will still have a role to play in this data game. Well, yes it will .. as long as we can’t sit on data. However, the chair industry will not survive without boosting the use of software.

After Stefan Sigg's opening speech, Dr. Helge Hess entered the stage with his presentation “Positioning, go to market, and roadmap”. He challenged the partners to describe ARIS. The predominant term our partners used in this context was “change”.

This means that customers use ARIS to:

• Transform their company and adapt it to change
• Achieve operational excellence
• Ensure their customers' satisfaction
• Comply with changing regulations (their license to operate)

In other words: ARIS is the must-have tool for making change happen!

Day 1

Peter Walraven from Royal Friesland Campina and our dear president from the International ARIS user group kicked off the day with some general announcements. Marc Vietor also introduced himself as the general manager of the Business Transformation product line and as one of the “oldest” ARIS fans.

Following Peter & Marc, the ARIS Product Marketing and Management team of Helge Hess took over went into more ARIS deep-dives.

Helge’s presentation highlighted some of the newest ARIS 10 SR8 features including smart modeling, root cause miner, and RPA, and also gave some “preview” on the upcoming release around Enterprise Management System, Compliance security and variant’s handling.

But his presentation was abruptly interrupted - by myself - why this question:

After that Caspar Jans gave us real world insights on the DSM transformation journey powered by ARIS, especially how ARIS Process Mining resulted in huge benefits & optimization for the Supply chain.

The first ARIS day of IUG in Riga started with great presentations in the morning and made participants curious for the following slots in the afternoon. Right after lunch we continued with interactive sessions with demos. We prepared three parallel sessions with three different topics to give everybody the chance to participate in all three of them:

• Role-based & visualization with focus on ARIS Connect
• Content lifecycle management with focus on ARIS Process Governance
• Easy content capturing for the ARIS repository

Users shared interesting examples and experience from their own projects. This made the sessions very vital and valuable, so time was almost too short. In the end, the audience got some inspiration and takeaways from the presenters from ARIS product management.

Smart modeling and contribution with ARIS Connect

DELL just talked about their journey of the last 16 month, starting with their very first steps with ARIS. They are sure, that a digital process enablement can double the revenue upside from product investment when fully realized. And DELL underlined this with an ambitious path they have in mind:

1. Digitization: Transitioning from analog to digital, especially in terms of modeling, simulation and change control.
2. Digitilization: Making digitizid information work for everybody by leveraging RPA synergies and Process Analytics.
3. Digital Transformation: Taking advantage of digitalization to create completely new business concepts using intelligent BPM with Process Mining & Discovery.

Doing so, they follow a tight and really impressive journey. This is what they did in only the last 16 month:
Phase 1 (2 months): POC Use cases (with 20 processes and 10 practitioners), finally led to ARIS selection
Phase 2 (4 months): Ramp up the operating model with boot camps (140 processes, 80 practitioners)
Phase 3 (5 months): Establish a Governance structure and optimization approach (300 processes, 110 practitioners))
Phase 4 (4+ months): Reach a BPM based process landscape with ongoing monitoring and optimization (500+, 160+ practitioners)

Thanks DELL for sharing this at the IUG19 audience in Riga. This is a perfect example how to unleash the full potential of ARIS in short time! But that's not all, if I had a look at their plans for the next quarters! RPA, Intelligent BPM & Process Mining to mention only a few topics.

The afternoon of the first ARIS day at the IUG in Riga ended with a very strong ARIS Cloud session. We had two very interesting presentations covering two different topics. The first one was by Yara that migrated shortly to an ARIS Cloud Enterprise edition. Stuart Trott told about their reasons, migration steps, lessons learned and benefits. The session was particularly valuable for users who are in similar situations and think about migrating to the cloud.

Only a few weeks after the migration to ARIS Cloud Enterprise Yara could generate some very good early feedback by the users.

The second presentation by Parkmobile gave some insights on the use case of BPM-CXM convergence. It highlighted the values of customer experience management and how important it is to combine it with BPM.

The project is done with an ARIS Cloud Advanced edition in the public cloud. It was impressing to see how much in possible to do with this edition. The presentation was very valuable for users thinking about customer experience management and how to approach this challenge.

After all, the cloud session was a perfect closing to a successful first day of the international ARIS user group meeting in Riga.

The IUG closes for ARIS with an exciting panel dicsussion on Enterprise Management System powered by ARIS, led by Eric Roovers.

Our panelists come from leading companies: Declan, business executive at Dell Technologies and Ilona from Outokumpu, the global leader in stainless steel.

Eric Roovers first introduced the session with a general introduction on the history of processes management and an overview of Enterprise Management Systems.

It was a fruitful discussion around senior management implication, transformation office, standards, requirement management,ways of working, process execution and root cause mining, business value, global process owners.

A little bit more than one year ago GDPR came into effect and was in everybody's mouth. Meanwhile we could gain some experience on how it works in reality. In fact, many companies are not completely ready yet. So it's interesting to learn how more mature companies approach the topic. At this year's IUG in Riga we had two presentations about the topic. The first one by ING bank which use a quite comprehensive ARIS solution including ARIS Risk & Compliance Manager with the accelerators for GDPR.

The second presentation by the State of Luxembourg was about turning modeling into business value with ARIS apps generation. Here GDPR is integrated into a larger framework covering several use cases.

With these presentations IUG 2019 has almost ended. The closing session will be a panel discussion about Enterprise Management Systems.
